Ottawa takes the lead
The 2009 Weekend to End Breast Cancer takes place in six Canadian cities, starting with Ottawa on June 6 and 7 and ending in Toronto on September 12 and 13.
Best Health shares the joy
There were over 1,000 participants, and each one received a copy of the Summer issue of Best Health to read and take home.
An essential read
Some participants couldn’t even wait to get back to their tents to start reading!
A financial success
Participants raised a huge amount of money: $2.1 million in 2009, to a total of over $8 million over the four years the Weekend to End Breast Cancer has been held in Ottawa.
Local fundraising
Funds raised through the Weekend to End Breast Cancer stay in the local communities. The Ottawa beneficiary is the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, which is committed to increasing cancer survivorship in Eastern Ontario.
An emotional weekend
One in nine Canadian women are diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, making this event an emotional one for many participants, some of whom are currently undergoing cancer treatment.
Back next year
The Ottawa Weekend to End Breast Cancer has been declared a success, and will take place again on June 5 and 6, 2010.
