Lipsticks that will stick around
This story has nothing to do with whole makeup-at-the-gym debate. Instead, we used the gym, spin studio, hot yoga and barre class as laboratory, if you will. We wanted to see which long-lasting lipsticks would hold up after a sweaty sesh. If it can last through a workout, it can certainly last an eight-hour (or longer) day. Click through and you’ll find out our long-lasting faves.
Long-lasting lipsticks: Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink
This is one impressive long-lasting lippy. Not only did the pigment stay on our pout, but we even wiped the sweat from our face (with a white towel no less), and the liquid lipstick did not budge. There were no smudges on our face or on the cloth. This is a super matte look, so after our SoulCycle class, we just added some clear gloss for more dimension.
Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink in Dreamer, $12 at maybelline.ca.
Long-lasting lipsticks: Sephora Collection Color Lip Last Lipstick
This is another top contender of the long-lasting lipsticks we tried. The pigment is intense and does not budge, even after a bunch of rounds cardio. But, it is best to avoid that white towel, though.
Sephora Collection Color Lip Last Lipstick in Oh My Beige!, $18 at sephora.ca.
Long-lasting lipsticks: Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick
This Canadian brand is known for its high pigments, so we had to include this in our long-lasting lipsticks round up. And the colour commitment does not disappoint. While the liplines were not perfect by the end of our cycling training, the looks was a perfectly stained lip.
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick in Éclair, $28 at sephora.ca.
Long-lasting lipsticks: Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour
A hot yoga session has no chance with this lippy, and it works well in hot, humid days, too. Every makeup aficionado knows that there’s nothing more luxurious than a creamy lipstick. Made with pure olive oil and vitamin E, this lipstick gives you the rich colour you’re lusting for while also nourishing your lips.
Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Rose, $34 at Holt Renfrew, Nordstrom and Sephora.
Long-lasting lipsticks: Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution
The reason we love this long-lasting lipstick is because of its bullet. The unique angles make it a cinch to apply without a lipliner. While our Pilates class had us weak from working on the reformer, this lippy kept our look strong.
Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution in Pillow Talk, $39 at charlottetilbury.com.
Long-lasting lipsticks: Burt’s Bees Gloss Lip Crayon
If you’re more of a balm girl, then you may just think this Burt’s Bees lipstick is the bomb. The colour is rich. It’s the only lipstick that needed blotting before hand (likely because of the shine). But after our HIIT workout, the hint of colour remained on our lips.
Burt’s Bees Gloss Lip Crayon in Pacific Coast, $12 at burtsbees.ca.
