Breakfast parfait
Layer plain or vanilla yogurt with granola and strawberries for a yummy breakfast parfait. Or add them to muffins, waffles and pancakes.
Fresh and fruity salad
Throw a handful of strawberries and almonds on leafy greens, and top with a fruity dressing. Or substitute strawberries for tomatoes in a Caprese salad made with fresh mozzarella and basil. (To intensify the flavour of strawberries, add ground black pepper.)
Breakfast cereal
Add chopped strawberries and nuts to cooked quinoa for a tasty breakfast; add a touch of maple syrup if you like.
Strawberry salsa
To make a strawberry salsa, dice an onion, a bell pepper and a cucumber; mix with cilantro and a little rice wine vinegar. Cover and chill. Add diced strawberries just before serving. Enjoy over beef or salmon.
Grilled sandwich
Place spinach, chopped strawberries, sliced cooked chicken and mozzarella between two slices of whole-grain bread. Heat in a lightly oiled panini press or skillet.
Berry guacamole
In guacamole, use diced strawberries instead of tomatoes.
Grilled strawberry dessert
For a fresh-tasting dessert, thread strawberry halves on a skewer and grill until just heated through. Serve with ice cream or frozen yogurt.
