1. Waterproof mascara
"A very black shade will make eyes pop and it’s a great security blanket for looking fabulous," says Toronto-based makeup and hair artist David Goveia. If you already have dark lashes, you might want to try a clear mascara to give your lashes a nice sheen. "It can also be used on brows," he says.
Try: CoverGirl LastBlast Volume Blasting Mascara in black ($8). Clarins Double Fix Mascara Waterproofing Seal Lashes & Eyebrows is designed to be used over your favourite mascara to waterproof it—or just use it alone as a clear waterproof mascara and brow fixer ($22).

2. Cream blush
Unlike pressed powder blush, cream blush blends easily into bare moisturized skin and leaves a dewy, healthy-looking finish. Blend a sheer coral shade onto the apples of cheeks and up toward the temple.
Try: Bobbi Brown Cream Blush Stick in Coral ($34).

3. Mint-flavoured lip balm
Goveia swears by this for summer. "The tingling sensation plumps lips," he says. "Plus, who doesn’t feel revived by a hint of mint?"
Try: Kiss My Face Organic Lip Balm in Treat Mint ($5).

4. Leave-in conditioner
"After you wash your hair in the morning, use a leave-in treatment while it’s still damp and then just pull it back into a simple ponytail or bun," says Goveia. "You’ll still look very stylish. If you have curly, thick or long hair, use a toonie-sized amount. For straight or fine hair, a smaller amount will add amazing shine."
Try: John Frieda Collection Weather Works Weather-Proofing Style Sealant Creme ($10, 115 mL).

5. Highlighter stick
"A sheer creamy highlighter enhances skin without looking like makeup, and it’s multipurpose—use it on eyes, lips and cheeks," says Goveia. Choose a pinkish-gold tone if you have darker skin and a pearly shade if you’re fair.
Try: Nars The Multiple in Copacabana or Malibu ($46), or Benefit highlighter pencils in Mr. Frosty or Gilded ($22).
