At-Home Facial Massage
Our underlying facial muscles contribute to the look and vitality of our skin. While products can only treat the skin’s structure, facial massage works on underlying muscles, says Mary Tsampiras, national training manager for Shiseido. “Skin has memory, so it maintains lift and contour with regular massage. Other benefits include improved microcirculation to promote radiance, clarity and luminosity.” Trying this at home? Régine Berthelot, lead aesthetician for Caudalie, says it’s important to keep in mind that we can’t manipulate the face in the same way that trained aestheticians do. “Your brain expects it, so your muscles won’t relax as much,” she says, “but it will still help the product penetrate and improve circulation.”

Using Your Hands
While cleansing, try using your entire palm instead of just your fingertips and in large, sweeping motions rather than tiny circles. A hand-held roller tool can also boost your at-home facial massage experience.
