Clara Hughes cycled into chilly Montreal yesterday – day 13 of her Big Ride for mental illness, which Best Health is proud to be the national magazine partner for.
An event was held last night at at the Canadian headquarters of Specialized, Clara’s bicycle sponsor, in Saint-Anne de Bellevue to celebrate her arrival in the city, where Reader’s Digest’s very own Louise-Helene Lanctot met Clara. Said Louise-Helene, "I was so impressed by Clara’how could you not be?"
On July 1, Clara will arrive in Ottawa having ridden 12,000 kilometres around the country – all to raise awareness about mental health issues. How amazing is that?
She’ll be leaving Montreal (just one stop out of about 100 communities she’ll be visiting) tomorrow to continue on her journey – but she certainly made an impact while she was there.
She even tweeted that it was "a BIG NIGHT for mental health awareness in Montreal…thanks so much @Bell_LetsTalk merci @Bell_Cause #ClarasBigRide."
