This is the Best City in Canada for Quality of Living
We give this city top marks, too.
You’ve likely heard the saying, ‘west coast, best coast.’
Well, it certainly rings true when it comes to Vancouver’s quality of living. The west coast city ranked fifth in the world in Mercer’s 20th Annual Quality of Living Survey. Vienna, Austria took the top spot for the ninth (!) year in a row. (The European city is definitely on our travel bucket list now!) Mercer’s survey considers several factors to determine the ranking, including climate, sanitation, ease of communication, medical care, social and political climate, and physical remoteness. Toronto was the second Canadian city to rank at 16, followed by Ottawa at 19, Montreal at 21, and Calgary at 33. (Planning to visit Vancouver? Check out our city guide for travel tips.)
