The moment of truth?

As you know, I’ve been training to run a 10K race—the Nike Human Race—on August 31. As in on Sunday! (Why does the end of August always have to arrive so abruptly?) I’ve been getting in lots of training runs and working my way up to more and more kilometres, all tracked thanks to my SportBand: last week and the week before I did about 16K; the two weeks prior to that were 10K. (A big jump, I know, but keep in mind I do lots of other sports too.) Yesterday was meant to be our pre-race practice 10K, but I felt like I was coming down with a cold, so cut it down to 7K—luckily, thanks to some healthy, vitamin C-rich foods and lots of ginger smoothies, I feel better today. I’m still trying to decide if I should fit in one more run on Thursday or Friday or just let my body get in some rest—any thoughts?
I was planning to run in Toronto (my plans for Paris didn’t materialize) with everyone at the Nike Runner’s Lounge—they don’t have an "official race" going, but they’re having a fun day full of events and I think they’re running hourly 10K runs through the park for everyone participating. But I have exciting news: the folks at Nike kindly offered to fly me out to Vancouver to run the offical Canadian race there. I’m flying out on Saturday, running the race on Sunday and back on Monday, a perfect long weekend in my mind. Wish me luck and I’ll report back next week!
