The Sochi 2014 Olympics opening ceremony is less than 48 hours away. Ahead of the Winter Games we shared what we’re most excited to see...
"The Opening Ceremony performances are what I look forward to watching every Olympics. It’s always a huge production with glimpses of the home country’s arts and culture that are showcased. I was blown away by the 2008 Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony and I’m waiting for another country to beat that!" ‘Stephanie Han, Art Director
“I’m most looking forward to seeing how we do on the slopes. Love ski cross! However, I’m also keen to see the curling, especially the men’s’I’m wondering if the outfits worn by the Norwegians will prove to be too distracting to our Canadian team.” ‘Bonnie Munday, Editor-in-Chief
"I’m most looking forward to watching the Canadian hockey teams play. My husband and I and our three sons were glued to the TV for every hockey game in the last Olympics and we are counting down the days until we get to see the best-of-the-best play!" ‘Jennifer Walker, Deputy Editor
“I feel so fortunate to be attending the opening ceremonies‘it will be an amazing experience! I can’t wait to feel the energy of the crowd at the Fisht Olympic Stadium. The festivities will be spectacular, I’m sure, but what I’m most looking forward to is seeing the Canadian athletes enter the stadium. I’ll be waving my flag and cheering as loudly as I can!” ‘Joana Lourenço, Associate Editor

“I can’t wait to see Hayley Wickenheiser carry the Canadian flag at the opening ceremony. I got to meet her a couple of years ago and will be rooting for her and her teammates to bring home another gold medal in women’s hockey. I’m also excited to see Rosalind Groenewoud compete in ski halfpipe (a new event). She’s projected to win gold. ‘Melissa Greer, Content Producer
“I’m looking forward to seeing the jumping events in ski and snowboard. While I don’t do either sport myself, I find it fascinating to watch the the athletes twist and turn in the air! And of course, I’ll be cheering Team Canada on in the Hockey tournament, too. I love that all the rivalry between the Canadian NHL teams gets put on hold for the duration of the Olympics, and we all cheer for the same players.” ‘Jennifer Masseau, Associate Editor, Beauty & Fashion
“I’m most excited about the new sports being introduced at Sochi. I think it’s so great that women will finally be able to compete in Olympic ski jumping (it’s about time – men’s ski jumping has been an event since 1924). I’m also looking forward to the whole spirit of the Olympics. I love how energetic and excited everyone gets when the games are on. Fun side note: Every time I watch this chilling Game of Thrones themed trailer for the Olympics, narrated by Charles Dance (aka Tywin Lannister) I get excited all over again!” ‘Katharine Watts, Associate Web Editor
"I’ll be happy just to see them get here, after all the expectation and hype and controversy. Once the Games start, we can hopefully get past all that and just marvel at the individual athletes’ passion and drive. What I’ll REALLY be looking forward to will be Joana’s onsite reports of what is happening." ‘Ruth Hanley, Copy Chief
“I’ll be chewing my knuckles watching the tricks on the new women’s slopestyle. And I love watching figure skating and will especially be rooting for Patrick Chan.” ‘Rhonda Rovan, Editor-at-Large, Beauty & Fashion
