Bobsledder Kaillie Humphries made history in 2010 when she and her brakewoman Heather Moyse became the first Canadian women to win gold in their sport at the Olympic Winter Games. (The pair set a new Olympic record in Sochi today, becoming the first women bobsledders to repeat as Olympic champions!)
Prior to her event, the Calgarian had told us that she was hoping for a repeat performance in Sochi. "My sister recently had a sweet baby girl," she gushed, "and I’d love to come home with a medal for her!"
Humphries trains two to three times a day, for three to four hours at a time, doing a mix of cardio, weights and sledding. She is also disciplined when it comes to her diet. Lunch and dinner centre around a high-quality protein, such as chicken and other meats, with lots of vegetables. Healthy snacks while training include carrots, fruit, protein shakes and granola bars. She also makes sure to stay well hydrated by drinking water throughout the day.
