You Have To See The Newly Released Puma Ads With Selena Gomez
Have you seen the Selena Puma ad? Find out why the athleisure and sportswear brand partnered with Selena Gomez. We have all the pictures to prove why.
Selena Puma ads are not what you would expect
Selena Gomez took a break this week from confirming rumours about her relationship with Canadian bad boy Justin Bieber to release a sneak peek of her collaboration with Puma.
Like most things Selena puts her touch on these days, the ads are gold. They give her fans and fans of the athletic line a much-anticipated look at what the upcoming collection will include. (Selena always handles things like a pro, like these five times she addressed having lupus.)
Sporting a retro red Puma tank top and short grey gym shorts, Selena shared her excitement about the line with her fans, “Guys, I’m so excited to share my first campaign for the new @PUMA Phenom. #DoYou.”
Selena also shows off a pair of the all-black Puma Phenoms, the brand’s new trainers that are supposed to fit like regular runners but look like high-tops, thanks to the soft collar. She also wrapped a silk jacket around her elbows in the photos – clearly more for fashion than function.
The brand shared a few additional shots of the superstar along with a sneak peek at the first video ad for the campaign. (Selena is a private person, and sometimes she will dissappear from the limelight. Like this one time.)
Selena’s collaboration with Puma sees her following in the footsteps of her ex-boyfriend, Abel Tesfaye (better known as The Weeknd) and Kylie Jenner, who released her own controversial campaign earlier this year. (See Kylie and her Puma ad here.)
Puma clearly learned from the Jenner ads – they were criticized for being unrealistic and the brand was questioned about their choice to use a non-athlete to sell athletic wear. While Selena is no more an athlete than Kylie Jenner, her ads are much less “athletic” and have clearly been created to sell Puma as more of an everyday, athleisure brand than high-intensity workout wear.
Another major difference? Selena isn’t exercising in the campaign. She’s either in a car, an elevator or sitting on the ground.
Running experts said Kylie’s form was off, but nobody can criticize a girl for sitting – and that’s probably exactly the way Selena wanted it.
