Reader letters: October 2008
Find out what readers had to say in letters from the October issue of Best Health Magazine

I just picked up your September issue and had to write to say how much I enjoyed it. The articles were timely. I love how you have divided the issue into different sections, since it allows readers the chance to choose which parts they want to read at a given time. This is a quality magazine.

A friend gave me the September issue of Best Health. I’m not a big magazine reader, but was pleasantly surprised to find articles that interested me. Much of the information was pertinent to my simple lifestyle. Plus, it wasn’t full of beauty techniques and useless diet fads. I really appreciated the fitness tips in “Bottoms Up!” (page 39), the new workout ideas in “7 Hot Fitness Trends” (page 63) and the naturopathy article (“How Naturopathy Helped Me,” page 71). Thank you for a refreshing and informative read!
Sandra Sylvestre, Saint-Lazare, Que.
I loved the Beet & Feta Salad recipe in your September issue (“Quick Fixes,” page 117). It was quick to make and turned out wonderfully. (The leftovers were even better.) It was the first time I had cooked beets, and I never knew how simple they were to prepare. Looking forward to future recipes!

As an avid walker, I was really intrigued by “Mindful Walking” (September, page 130). I’m a teacher and walk 25 minutes to school and home just about every day. It’s the perfect stress reliever, and I was interested to learn how to incorporate a higher degree of “mindfulness” when walking. And, being an information junkie, I appreciated that you found so many interesting sites for me to browse in the “Get It Together” sections (September, pages 58, 92, 120 and 148).

I often have trouble finding a bathing suit that works for a long torso, but your article on bathing suits (“Suits for Every Body,” Summer, page 60) was so helpful. I looked up Seafolly, one of the brands your article mentioned, and found a boutique not far from Kitchener that sells them. I bought an amazing suit!
By the way, this really is a great magazine. I’m getting gift subscriptions for two of my friends. They’ll love it.

Thank you for giving the book Allen Carr’s Easy Way to Stop Smoking (“How I Quit Smoking,” Premiere, page 98) the attention it deserves. I heard about it from my sister, and was skeptical at first: How could a book be the answer after all of the other methods I had tried to quit smoking? But it worked, and it really was easy. I stopped over a year ago. And the number of friends and family who have now quit because of “The Book” is adding up.

I’m a new subscriber and really enjoy reading Best Health. The format is perfect, and I find interesting information in every section. I subscribe to many health magazines and I have to say that this one is tops! I look forward to reading every issue.

I particularly love that Best Health is Canadian. Also, I’m a bit of a health nut, and can’t stand the magazines and websites that put fitness first, and don’t cover the whole picture. I will be sure to spread the word about your magazine.
Christel Loll, Winnipeg
Best Health is a rare find. I love that it is compiled into four easy-to-locate sections with information that’s relevant to my overall well-being. I will continue to recommend this magazine to all of my family and friends.

I can’t find a single thing about Best Health that I don’t like. I’d love to see you include in a future issue information and research about chlorophyll supplements, which I’ve heard great things about. I trust your magazine, and would find it very helpful to get the true “scoop” on their benefits—if any. Thank you for keeping me up to date and informed.
