Frustration and embarrassment affect 79 and 70 percent of psoriasis sufferers respectively, according to an online research study conducted by Psoriasis Support Canada.

"This study confirms what most practicing dermatologists already suspect: psoriasis is a condition that negatively impacts the quality of life of sufferers – physically, emotionally and socially," says Edmonton-based dermatologist Dr. Norman Wasel.

The recurring condition—in which the skin develops red patches of various sizes, covered with dry, silvery scales—affects one million Canadians, the Canadian Dermatology Association reports.
