At 12 pm ET today, The National Multiple Sclerosis Society and The American Academy of Neurology will be broadcasting a live web forum for the public about chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI) and what it could mean for people living with multiple sclerosis (MS).
The forum will feature a panel of doctors, including Dr. Paulo Zamboni of Italy, who first suggested that CCSVI may contribute to nervous system damage in patients with MS. While Dr. Zamboni and his colleagues have already begun the process of investigating CCSVI, he feels that larger, more controlled studies are critical in order to gain a better understanding of the impact of CCSVI on MS and whether it can be treated.
The panel will also feature Dr. Andrew Common, Radiologist in Chief at St. Michaels Hospital in Toronto.
