When I think of Victorian women, I imagine buttoned up blouses and puritanical attitudes. Not so, reveals a sex survey of women who lived in the Victorian era. The study’which was conducted by an early women’s health activist named Clelia Duel Mosher and is regaining interest among sex scholars and gender activists’was conducted between 1892 and 1913 on 45 women, some of whom were born before the American Civil War, reports the Toronto Star. Their answers reveal surprisingly positive attitudes toward sex. According to the Star, one 42-year-old woman called sex "uplifting like music," and most of the women enjoyed sex at least twice a week, preferably with orgasm. That’s more than some 21st century working moms I know. So…how many times a week do you have sex? ‘Cmon, I know you’re dying to share.
