Today’s teens are putting past generations to shame with their incredible achievements. First, 17-year-old Brittany Wegner won first prize at the Google Science Fair for creating an artificial "brain" that can detect breast cancer, and now this.
15-year-old high school student Jack Andraka created a pancreatic cancer test that is 168 times faster and more than 1,000 times less expensive than the current best option in the field, reports the BBC.
Andraka says the idea came to him while ‘chilling out in biology class.’ Then, using only search engines and free online science papers, he created the test.
I don’t know about everyone else, but I remember spending high school biology class trying desperately to understand it, while simultaneously scribbling notes to friends.
If this is the new generation of teens, teachers and parents are definitely doing something right.
