Want to give your brain a boost (and improve your memory)? It could be as simple as upping your intake of green tea.
A new study, published in the journal Psychopharmacology, found that green tea extract improves brain function – especially working memory.
After study volunteers were given a drink that contained green tea extract, they tested significantly better on working memory tasks.
"Our findings suggest that green tea might increase the short-term synaptic plasticity of the brain," study author Stefan Borgwardt said in a press release.
Boosting your brain power isn’t the only reason to drink green tea. Previous studies have shown it can help fight heart disease and even help you lose weight. Plus, it’s delicious – which makes it an easy, yummy addition to your day.
Don’t like drinking it on its own? Turn it into dessert with this Matcha Green Tea Torte.
