I’ve always been suspicious of pesticides, and I try to buy organic as much as possible, but a recent story in the New York Times surprised even me. According to three new studies just released in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives, children exposed to higher levels of pesticides in the womb have a lower IQ than those exposed to lower levels.
Researchers equate these findings with similar research in the 1980s that implicated lead exposure with multiple developmental problems in children’research that resulted in strict standards for lead use, including its removal from gasoline and paint.
Tell us: do you currently avoid pesticides? Will this research change your opinion on buying organic?
