According to the the U.S.-based Chinese news service NTDTV (via Toronto Sun), the 29-year-old mother had a normal pregnancy, and there was nothing unusual about her diet.
Named Chun Chun, the baby was delivered Saturday by cesarean section, and is thought to have set a record as the country’s biggest baby.
According to Guinness World Records, the heaviest newborn ever recorded was born to an Ohio woman in 1879 and weighed 23.7 pounds.
