Solid perfumes are a bit of a trend. In principle, they’re supposed to be easier to tote around, but they’ve gotten so decorative, that one can’t make that claim across the board anymore. Calvin Klein Beauty Solid Perfume Purse Charm is a good example. The sculptural metallic chrome finish case, which glides open to reveal a translucent solid "neo-lily" fragrance, plays into the sexy minimalism of the Calvin Klein Collection clothing label designed by creative director Francisco Costa (as does the original sleek Calvin Klein Beauty spray fragrance bottle). When a fragrance branding and packaging is in sync with a fashion designer’s signature clothing look, it’s a wonderful alchemy. And it doesn’t hurt that Diane Kruger is the brand ambassador to shoot the fashion/beauty appeal up even higher. Beauty is a floral/woody spicy scent. The solid charm is a limited edition item available at the Bay through December, and comes with an optional silver hook attachment. ($50, 1.2 g) Gift, anyone?
