You might know her as a Juno Award winning singer-songwriter, but Chantal Kreviazuk is also a wife and mother who loves pasta pomodoro and has a love-hate relationship with ballet barre workouts.
Learn a little bit more about her in this month’s installment of ‘It works for me.’
10 words that describe you: Bold, tireless, curious, adventurous, generous, sensitive, strong, tired, happy, sad.
First paid job: Actress on a Canadian children’s TV series called Let’s Go. I also worked at my dad’s office answering phones.
Dream job: Neurosurgeon/landscape architect
Favourite song/artist: John Lennon singing ‘Across the Universe’ for The Beatles
Favourite workouts: Ballet barre at Union (her and husband Raine Maida’s studio in Toronto). Cross-training. Mountain uphill running.
Least favourite workout: Also ballet barre – it’s hard!
Diet: I eat according to the documentary Eat, Fast and Live Longer. It’s a fasting diet. I also avoid white foods like dairy and bread, and limit pasta. I love leafy greens and juicing.
Go-to healthy snack: Go Organic bars, trail mix, pistachios and cashews. I also crave avocados.
Favourite food indulgence: Pasta pomodoro
White or red wine? White Moscato (a type of grape)
Coffee or tea? I love them both. I have a small cup of coffee in the morning, but drink tea throughout the day. I love rose tea.
Indoor or outdoor workouts? Both. I like to mix it up a lot.
Morning or evening workouts? Both. During the week I like to get up, go out and start the day. On the weekend I go later.
Celeb crush: Raine Maida (lead vocalist for alt-rock band Our Lady Peace)
Dream travel destination: Bora Bora
Healthy living philosophy: Balance. Don’t be overindulgent. Too much of anything is not a good thing. Do I want three glasses of wine? Yes. But I don’t want to take away from tomorrow.
