I’m heading out of town for the weekend, which means I’ll be away from my gym and usual routine. Plus, I’ll be indulging in not one, but TWO turkey dinners!
Luckily, I’ve discovered the Nike Training Club (NTC) app, which is easy to bring along. (It’s free to download on your smartphone through iTunes or Google Play.) The app has more than 115 workouts and many that are targeted to specific body parts. It also gives the option of 15-, 30- or 45-minute workouts, so it’s easy to fit in a workout no matter how little time I think I have. The best part is that there are plenty of workouts that don’t require any equipment. Others might require minimal equipment like a jump rope, medicine ball or light dumbbells. (If you’re in the Toronto area, check out the Nike Training Club Canada Facebook page for information on free workouts being held at the Academy of Lions!)
Here’s the 30-minute NTC workout I’ll be doing this weekend (find it on the app under Get Toned/Beginner/Body Flexor):
2 min Light jog
1 min Back pedal
2 min Straight leg kicks
1 min Russian twists
1 min Sumo squat
1 min Modified push ups
1 min Walking lunges
2 min Side lunge
1 min Modified side plank
2 min Deadlift
2 min Rest
1 min Reverse crunches
1 min Ski jumps
2 min Alternating forward lunge with arm curl
1 min Lying chest press
1 min Russian twists
2 min Squats
1 min Opposite arm/leg extension
2 min Lying quad stretch
1 min Lower back stretch
2 min Pretzel stretch
