The Incredible Cancer-Fighting Benefits of Resveratrol
This heart-healthy antioxidant also has cancer-fighting potential
A heart-healthy antioxidant compound called resveratrol, which is in red grape skins and red wine, has been found to help protect against cancer. A study by University of Missouri researchers published in August 2013 in the Journal of Surgical Research found melanoma cells to be more susceptible to radiation if treated with resveratrol first. Previous research out of the University of Missouri found similar results in prostate cancer treatment.
Other research, published in October 2013 in the journal Science Translational Medicine, shows that even after resveratrol is metabolized by the body, it remains effective at fighting cancer.
Here are three ways to get this antioxidant into your diet:
1. Red wine
2. Resveratrol supplements
3. Red grapes
