Found! The Best Foundation for Summer
A melt-proof makeup formula that lasts.
It’s an oppressive 29 degrees Celsius (feels more like 37!) here in Toronto today, with humidex values expected to climb into the 40s as the day goes on. I’m feeling anything but fresh — although my makeup might have you fooled (along with a game-changing facial mist). I’m wearing a powder foundation from new-to-Canada line Nude by Nature — and I’m pretty impressed with how it’s held up on what’s so far the hottest day of 2018 in Southern Ontario. Called Radiant Loose Powder Foundation the mineral powder practically melts into my skin upon application and it’s buildable for sheer to full coverage. One of the formula’s key ingredients is kaolin clay which absorbs excess oil and extends the makeup’s staying power.
To apply, I use Nude by Nature’s Flawless Brush and press it into the mesh dispenser to load up on product. Then, instead of tapping the excess powder off of the brush, I hold the brush upright and tap the bottom so the powder sinks deeper into the brush bristles before gently pressing (not buffing) the powder into my skin (a tip from the brand’s global makeup artist, Clint Dowdell). Don’t miss our Facebook Live makeup application tutorial with Dowdell.
And while us Canadians are just now learning about Nude by Nature, Australians have loved the brand since it launched in Sydney in 2008. According to Dowdell, one Radiant Loose Powder Foundation is sold every 60 seconds in Australia. (Here’s another Australian beauty brand that’s become a favourite in Canada.)
Radiant Loose Powder Foundation (available in 10 shades), $32 at Shoppers Drug Mart (Add it to your gym beauty kit STAT!)
Now that’s you’ve found the best summer foundation, make sure you clean your makeup brushes properly to avoid germs and preserve your brushes.
