During current Hollywood awards season, one beauty trend that has been sending beep-beep love signals to me is hair that’s off to the side. It was evident at the Golden Globe awards in charming asymmetrical buns. It was also in full force in sexy exaggerated side-parted hair at the recent Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG), as on Les Misérable actress Amanda Seyfried, in this New York Times photo.

"Off to the side or asymmetry in hair gives you a little bit more of an oval face shape,"  L.A.-based Joico International Artistic Director Damien Carney told me at a recent deskside meeting at Best Health. “It gives you a youthful lift. Overall,
I’m liking the refreshing simplicity of hair that’s polished in a non-confining polished kind of way.”

On the science-y side of things, Joico has patent-pending a Bio-Advanced Peptide Complex, which the company says creates "a never-before-seen shield of protection and precisely imitates peptides to keep hair healthy."

Watch for innovations like Joico Texture Boost Dry Spray Wax, Humidity Blocker Finishing Spray, and Matte Grip texture cream; and a new Joico line called EmPOWER It with AquaLastik to give hair hold, shine and flexibility –"the holy trinity when it comes to hairstyling," says Carney.
