Beauty: It’s raining shower gels
Last week’s scorching temperatures in our neck of the woods made me want to dunk my head in a sink
Last week’s scorching temperatures in our neck of the woods made me want to dunk my head in a sink of ice. This week, cooler heads prevail, and I’ve noticed a fresh new run of shower gels and body washes beckoning across the beauty desk. I happen to love shower gels–especially in summer–and if you’re the same, here’s a rundown of some new ones, from easy priced drugstore to luxury brands.
Live Clean Exotic Nectar Argan Oil Replenishing Body Wash contains pure argan oil, "rich in essential fatty oils and antioxidants," the eco-friendly company reminds us. It also
has certified organic botanicals of grape seed and olive oil. $7, 500 mL
Etival Body Wash at Shoppers Drug Mart has a very light fresh lemony scent, moisturizes as it washes, and contains a trademarked antioxidant blend of nutrients to nourish and protect the skin. $18, 192 mL
Crabtree & Evelyn Bath and Shower Gel in Honey and Coriander contains conditioning glycerine, aloe vera, honey and tea extracts and offers a sulfate-free rich lather. Its subtle scent is a blend of citron, lemon leaf, peppery coriander and woody accents. $20, 250 mL
Fan di Fendi Perfumed Bath and Shower Gel (available August 25 at the Bay) is part of the bath line extension of the new Fendi fragrance that opens with fruit notes designed to evoke "an Italian garden in the sun," and moves to a floral bouquet, and features a "bewitching" leather note. $45, 150 mL
Shalimar Parfum Initial Delicate Shower Gel requires a drop of history: The original Shalimar by Jacques Guerlain debuted in 1925 and, with its vanilla accord, was considered the first oriental fragrance. Now, Guerlain perfumer Thierry Wasser has created a lighter Shalimar for his niece’s generation, Shalimar Initial. Take the ambery floral scent into the shower with this rich-lather gel. It’s available mid-September at Guerlain boutiques, select the Bay, Sears; and Ogilvy. $56, 200 mL
