Best Health: I love bright shadows, but am I too old for bold?
Grace Lee: There is no cut-off age for wearing colour! Anyone can wear brights, as longs you know how to make them work for you.
Use colour as an inspiration point. For instance, if you love bright blue, take the tone of blue and wear it as eyeliner rather than all over.
Best tip: Pair colour with more neutral tones on the rest of your features and it will balance out your whole look.
BH: Can I get away with using a BB cream rather than foundation?
GL: Absolutely! These days, BB creams can act as a foundation, sunscreen and moisturizer all in one ‘ a big time saver! Keep foundation for when you want heavier coverage.
BH: Is there a quick trick to nailing eyeliner?
GL: Yes! My trick is to start by applying small strokes. It’s way easier than creating one perfect clean line.
Luckily, there are amazing eyeliners out there that do the handy work for you. I love Maybelline’s Eye Studio Master Precise Ink Pen Eyeliner because the fine tip allows anyone ‘ and I mean anyone ‘ to create a perfect, clean line! If you prefer a kohl or pencil-like feel, there is also the option of Maybelline’s Ee Studio Master Kajal Eyeliner. It has rich pigment, and you can hold it like a pencil.
Best tip: Keep cotton swaps dipped in eye makeup remover at the ready to clean up edges. And, of course, practice makes perfect.
BH: How can I get my lipstick to stay put?
GL: First, make sure that your lips are properly hydrated and exfoliated. Next, line and fill in the lips with a pencil. Go with a neutral, or even clear, tone Once the lips are filled in, blot to extract excess moisture. Then apply the lipstick. If I want something to stay put, my first choice is a matte lipstick. Apply the lipstick, then blot with a tissue and reapply another layer. Your lipstick will last all day long!
BH: Best bet for a full brow?
GL: First, brush up your eyebrows ‘ this allows you to see where you need to fill in. Then choose a brow pencil, eyeshadow or brow gel to fill in the gaps. Make sure you use short, feathery strokes.
