ASICS is Hosting a 5K Fun Run to Celebrate Global Running Day
Lace up and hit the pavement for Global Running Day!
Wednesday, June 5th marks Global Running Day and I’m excited to be lacing up with ASICS for a 5K fun run from their Toronto flagship location.
In advance of Global Running Day, I stopped by ASICS to check out Motion ID, a free service available to help consumers find the best running shoe for their gait. (Don’t miss the 20 things every woman needs to know about running.)
How does it work? You’ll test drive three different styles by running on a treadmill for about 2 minutes per pair. While you’re running you’ll be connected to three sensors (one on each shoe, and one around your midsection) which will record and capture your natural posture and style of movement when running. Then, you’ll be recommended a shoe (either neutral or stability) based on the data collected.
I was “prescribed” a neutral shoe, the Gel-Cumulus 21 ($160, asics.com). Based on the feedback from the Motion ID, I learned that this type of shoe supported my foot in a way that actually made running less strenuous. While I don’t expect to win any races, this might be the edge I need to improve my speed and get that PB.
The ASICS Global Running Day 5K leaves at 6:30 p.m. from 364 Queen St. W. and all levels are welcome.
