Alison Sweeney’s Key to Body Confidence

We sat down with actress Alison Sweeney to chat about the key to developing body confidence and the importance of a healthy smile.

 Q&A with Alison Sweeney

A lot of women struggle with body confidence. How do you keep feeling good about your looks as you age?

For me, it’s about honouring who you are. After I had kids, a lot of people kept asking when I was going to get my pre-baby body back, and that’s just not possible. You have to move forward and be the best you – right now. I feel great, and I have so much more confidence now than I had 10 or 15 years ago. I celebrate everything that’s happened in my life up to now, but I don’t look back and wish I was 10 years younger. My competitive spirit wants to get out there and keep trying new things and living life. If at the end of the day I have the wrinkles that show I’ve made it, then I’m OK with that.

You’re an actress, an author and a mom of two. How do you make it all work?

Part of finding balance is making choices and trying to give your attention to whatever you’re doing on that day or in that moment. It doesn’t have to all balance out every day, but by the end of the week you’ll hopefully have had time for everything. And I’m constantly re-evaluating: If one week is work-heavy, I might cut back a little and make time for other things the next week.

Do you think a healthy smile is a confidence booster?

I use an Arm & Hammer Truly Radiant Clean & Fresh Battery-Powered toothbrush and Toothpaste, and I know that I’m taking good care of my teeth – I’m getting rid of plaque in hard-to-reach places and keeping them white. When I meet new people or I’m on set, I have confidence in my smile and I feel good about it.
