Beauty tips: 5 new beauty/fashion products

Here are a few of the beauty (and fashion!) items that caught my eye this week.

Love That White Smile "On the Go": This teeth-cleaning pen, part of a drugstore-available whitening system developed by a Canadian dentist, whitens and cleans without SLS (sodium lauryl sulphate) or peroxide, and the company says it’s mild enough for sensitive teeth. $20, lovethatwhitesmile.com

Crabtree & Evelyn Pink 60 Second Fix Kit for Hands: Until October 31, the company will donate 10 percent from the sale of every limited edition kit (in Crabtree stores across Canada) to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Estée Lauder Pure Color Five Color Eyeshadow Palette in Extravagant Gold: The slightly shimmering illuminating golds and bronzes are ideal for taking neutral eye makeup up a few degrees of glamour. $45, esteelauder.com

June Jacobs Brightening Moisturizer: I’m crazy about the light citrusy smell of this luxury natural moisturizer. Made without preservatives or perfumes, what it does have is lactic acid to gently smooth skin, plus sweet almond oil and shea butter to soften. Lemon peel extract revives skin, and bearberry root, mulberry root, licorice extract and a natural skin-brightening extract called Gigawhite help to reduce hyperpigmentation. $100

Cougar "Regal" boots: Okay, normally I blog about beauty products, but I couldn’t resist. Long before (since 1948, actually) the word "cougar" was appropriated to mean an older woman on the troll for younger men, there were Cougar boots. Now this Canadian company is rebranding and notching up its style quotient’and I’m going to get me a pair of these rubber fleece-lined biker boots. $85, cougarshoes.com
