Beauty tips: 5 new beauty products

As Best Health Beauty Editor, I’m regularly introduced to new beauty products. Here’s what’s caught my eye this week:

WoWee Hydrating Balm. I’m charmed by this little natural product sold at BeautyMark in Vancouver and available online (beautymark.ca). Lips, elbows, flyaway hair, there isn’t anything this natural balm made of sesame, olive and sweet almond oils in a beeswax base can’t fix (maybe a squeaky drawer, but that’s asking a lot). Jar, $16, Stick, $8.

Clarins Rouge Prodige. What, you’re not armed with red lipstick yet for fall? Forty lashes with a leopard-print bag! Rouge Prodige (which comes in many shades besides bold reds) offers high-performance staying power with moisture and shine. Shown here, Red Prodige #121, $26

Yves Rocher Vanille Noire. Sometimes the scent of vanilla is cloying for me, but Vanille Noir has a burnt smoky nuance that makes this range of fragrance and body products smell great. Shown here, Perfumed Bath and Shower Gel, $25. (Available in October.)

Lush Lovely Jubblies. For the breasts and décolleté, this contains meadowsweet to firm skin and it’s also infused with ‘fresh roses to soothe skin and make it supple.’ Lightly fragranced with essential oils. $25

The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Conditioner for dry or damaged hair. What this doesn’t have: silicones, colourants or parabens. What it does have: pracaxi oil sourced from the seeds of the pracaxi tree organically grown in the Amazonian rainforest. It’s part of an extensive range of Rainforest hair products that’s been formulated ‘to be non-toxic to organisms that live in water, readily biodegradable’ and to have minimal packaging. $14
